In Year 1, we have started a new element in our topic lessons called ‘Portraits of the Queen’. This is an art based unit where the children are able to explore different art techniques as well as learning about the history. Last week we looked at different portraits of the Queen and how they portray her symbols of power. The looked in detail at the 3 symbols of power that are prominent in many of her coronation portraits. They are the crown, the orb and the sceptre. In our most recent topic lesson, the children used different sketching techniques to draw their own versions.
