Making Zoetropes

As part of our learning about life in Victorian England, 5/6L were tasked with making their own ‘Zoetropes’, a pre-animation toy that became very popular in Victorian times. We learnt about how Zoetropes create an optical illusion that sequential images are moving when it is spun.
The children first drew their own sequences and then built their Zoetropes, sharing their ‘stories’ with each other at the end of the afternoon. It was lovely to see so many of them then taking their toys home to show.
