5L explore Pointillism

In our Art unit for Topic this half term, we have been working on our shading, sketching and now painting techniques. Last week we explored the work of Georges Seurat, who developed the ‘Pointillism’ style of painting. This involves using dots of various sizes and distances to create paintings without a paintbrush and usually only using the primary colours, black and white.
The children have begun to create their own river paintings in Seurat's style and are coping with the challenge well. They are fighting the urge to mix colours and rather trying to create an optical illusion of sorts with the primary colours.
It is always good to try something new and we can't wait to see how they turn out!
