3B visit Stonehenge

3B had a wonderful trip to Stonehenge on Tuesday. We were very lucky with traffic so were able to enjoy over 3 hours at the World Heritage Site and still make it back to school in good time.

Once we arrived we walked the mile and half to the Stones. It was a beautiful day for a walk in the country and we were able to spot some burial mounds and talk about the significance of the whole landscape as we walked.

Once we reached the Henge itself we enjoyed a talk from one of the English Heritage volunteers who told us about how and when the henge was built. We walked around the circle to see it from all sides before getting the bus back to the visitors centre.

We had lunch and then explored the centre. We tried to move the stone (it didn't even budge even with everyone trying!)

We visited the Neolithic houses and talked about their features.

Then we looked at the artifacts in the museum - the skeleton was a firm favourite.
