History
History forms one element of our topic curriculum at St Paul’s. History is often the key element, which shapes the topic. We teach children to know and understand the history and chronology of these islands, to know and understand the significant aspects of the history of the wider world. We also teach the children to understand and use historical methods of enquiry, to understand historical concepts and to gain and understanding of historically grounded abstract terms, such as ‘empire’, ‘civilisation’ and ‘parliament’.
We encourage our children to gain a historical perspective, understanding the connections between local, regional, national and international history.
Our study of history is enriched throughout the school by visitors and visits in the local area and to sites of national and international significance in and around London.
Our History scheme of work can be found within the topic schemes of work on the Curriculum Subjects page of our website.
